Meet our New Executive Director, Mrs Efua Edeh.

Hello Everyone,

I am excited to serve as the new Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN). These are big shoes to fill because of the great leadership of Kunbi Wuraola, the former executive director who served for over 10 years. At the first half of the school year, JAN successfully reached out to over 60,000 with strategic stakeholder partnerships. Taking over such leadership, inspires me to increase the number of students; increase stakeholder relationships, and enhance JAN’s image.

We are excite to begin 2015 with good news.  The Lagos State government has approved us to reach out to all its primary schools. Also, in Kaduna JAN has been approved to reach 10 additional schools.  More schools means more students and an increased impact. Volunteers will be trained and empowered to take JAN’s cutting edge programs to those schools. In addition, there are more opportunities to reach out to JAN students through events like Financial Literacy Day, an initiative supported by CBN to mandate banks executives to teach financial literacy to students across the Nation. Also the VIMP program, an initiative in partnership with The ACA foundation and The Lagos Business School to reach out to youth corpers to teach a one week, advanced business courses to aid them in career and potential business opportunities.  In order to ensure we reach the number of students, it is vital we maintain solid stakeholder relationships.

Who are our stakeholders? JAN stakeholders are the board members, trustees, funders, staff, volunteers, students and Alumni. The board and trustees need to remain informed, engaged, and empowered through constant communication and call to action. JAN staff also need a more conducive working environment and additional resources to perform their roles more effectively.  Funders need to stay informed on the impact of their contributions provided to the organization in addition to sustainability funding.  Volunteers need to stay engaged on all levels to ensure they identify with the organization.  Social media amongst other methods will be used to ensure they stay inspired to work with JAN.  We will ensure JAN inspires students and alumni to give back to the process of bridging the classroom to economic success of youth. Collectively, all these components efficiently in place will enhance JAN’s global image.

As a result, JAN will attract more funding and re-invent their image as a cutting edge economic education non-profit organization that aims to inspire and develop young conscientious business leaders who will lead us to a more vibrant economy.

I look forward to serving you and elevating JAN to the global platform it deserves.

Sincerely,

Efua Edeh
Executive Director.
