2016 National Company of the Year Competition (#NCOY2016)

 Junior Achievement Nigeria’s (JAN) annual flagship event The National Company of the Year Competition (NCOY) will be taking place Thursday 6 th   October, 2016  in Lagos.   JAN’s National Company of the Year Competition is an annual event that brings the JA Company Program winners of Regional Competitions across Nigeria together to compete for the National Company of the Year Award. JA Company Program teaches Senior Secondary students how to start and run their own business from inception to liquidation with the guidance of a volunteer.   They sell shares, raise start-up capital, pay dividends to shareholders and use 10% of their profit for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of their choice.   The 2016 NCOY winner will represent Nigeria against other JA Africa member-nation companies for the title of JA Africa Company of the Year in Zimbabwe this December.   At NCOY, JA student companies present the results of their enterprise bef...

Global Community Day #CitiVolunteers #Project350

For over a decade Citi has partnered with Junior Achievement Worldwide in empowering thousands of beneficiaries globally. However this event was a little different as JAN came on board to support Citi’s Global CSR initiative, Global Community Day on June 11 th , 2016 with Citi employees, partners, and friends. Citi in partnership with The Lagos State Government and IHS joined forces on  Project 350, a private-sector driven initiative to build libraries and ICT centres in secondary schools across Lagos State, and the creation of an online library which will serve as an Education Portal and a repository of knowledge. Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, Special Adviser in Education for Lagos State was there to shed some more light on this groundbreaking initiative.  Citi adopted Government College, Waziri Ibrahim, Victoria Island Library under a five year partnership and renovated the school’s library with internet enabled computers, furniture and books.
