Mr. Daniel Ukasoanya Age: 22 Venture In Management Programme (ViMP) 2015 Participant My name is Daniel Ukasoanya, I am 22 years old and the third child in a family of six. I am originally from Abia State, but having lived in Ten Nigerian Cities, I believe my background is a lot more diverse culturally. I graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka Secondary School, Nsukka, with a penchant for mechanical engineering, I pursued a B.Eng. Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering at Covenant University, where I graduated in 2014, placing 4 th (fourth) in my department. In September 2014, I was nominated as a “Highly Commended Entrant” by the Undergraduate Awards Ireland , for outstanding undergraduate research. My undergraduate final year project which explored energy-savings ability of nanofluids in domestic refrigerators, was nominated in the top 10% of over 4792 submissions globally, and was one of only two African submissions to be nominated. Our GEP (Girls Enterprise Program) sponsored by MasterCard,  has officially kicked off in all our regions .The grant from MasterCard is being used to deliver the Girls Enterprise Program, an adapted Company Program, which will build the business skills of  455 girls aged 14-18 in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The Girls Enterprise Program is a part of JAN’s Leadership Empowerment Achievement and Development (LEAD) camp which recruits and trains senior secondary level 2 (SS2) students on different aspects of setting up and running a business, including writing business plans, selling shares to raise capital, electing officers, managing a business and financial records as well as returning profits to shareholders as dividends. STEM Innovation Camp in partnership with Oracle Academy Nigeria

Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) in collaboration with Oracle Academy organized its 2nd Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Innovation Camp. The STEM Innovation Camp helps raise awareness amongst secondary school students aged 15-18, on STEM related issues, showcases young innovation, and provides students with industry role models who show the vital role tech-based CSR programs play in the future of education, while aligning business needs within a secondary school curriculum. STEM students came together in mixed teams from different schools and created ideas for an application within a short deadline. The challenge was unveiled to student’s day at the event and they were given access to tools, expert advice and resources. Students also created a sales plan to support their concept and the winning team was chosen by a panel of Oracle judges. Changes to the JAN Board of Directors: Retirements & New Appointments

The Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Niyi Yusuf, Country Managing Director of Accenture Nigeria as its new Chairman.   Prior to his appointment as Country Managing Director, Mr. Yusuf served as  the senior executive responsible for the Systems Integration and Technology Group of Accenture Nigeria; and the programme manager responsible for the establishment of Interswitch, ATM Consortium and CRC Credit Bureau where he played a key role in the creation of the critical infrastructure within the Nigerian banking industry. He is a Director at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and Enablis, Ghana whilst he also holds positions on the Board of numerous empowerment based organisations such as The Corona Trust Council.  Mr. Yusuf also volunteers for FATE Foundation and mentors at The United Kids Foundation.   This years COY was a great success and this is what Junior Achievement is all about; celebrating and nurturing the creative abilities of our youth, and empowering them to own their economic success.
