JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT NIGERIA - Marketing and Communications Associate
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Junior Achievement Nigeria Head Office Lekki Lagos
The Marketing and
Communication Associate is responsible for implementing the public relations
plan to develop broader reach and oversee production of all internal
publications and collateral pieces for programs and events. The position develops
exhibits and presentations for outreach to stakeholders, controls photo and
video files and library. The position manages all of the communications
emanating from Junior Achievement Nigeria so that the messages and image of the
organization is conveyed in a consistent and timely manner and favorable
publicity is maximized. The position creates, develops and implements
Junior Achievement awareness strategies and promotional items and is a liaison
with the Board Marketing Committee
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
o
Initiates and maintains ongoing relationships with
local media outlets to increase credibility and image of Junior Achievement
among existing and potential volunteers, contributors and program users.
Positions Junior Achievement as a major leader of business/education
partnerships. Develops story angles, cultivates reporters and editors until
placement is achieved within media. Maintains active contacts at all
times.
o
With PR/Marketing Committee, develops and
implements a PR plan, assists in developing a budget for all
communications/public relations related activities to be adhered to by the
organization. Develops a yearly calendar for department that includes
timetables, procedures and responsibilities to be accomplished.
o
Oversees press releases and media support.
Prepares and/or reviews speeches, publications, scripts, videos, slides,
monthly newsletter and annual report ensuring quality and accuracy.
Assures messages are consistent and designed to achieve the utmost favorable
public awareness.
o
Develops brochures for fund raising activities and
special events, and locally develops information or brochures for volunteers to
ensure consistency of Junior Achievement's public awareness.
o
Assists the ED and appropriate staff in developing
letters, memoranda, surveys and informal presentations to help communicate the
corporate mission. Helps coordinate special campaigns to support
strategic goals.
o
Updates and distributes internal communications
materials for use by all staff to enhance public awareness and marketing
collateral support. Manages production
of promotional videos and slide presentations.
Manages outside vendors for publications and promotions.
o
Plans and implements special events to meet the
budgeted goal for each. Operates as logistics coordinator and negotiator
for special events working with hotels, caterers, technicians, crews
and security. Assures appropriate media coverage. Keeps masterbooks on
all events. Maintains appropriate documentation. Secures gifts
in-kind to decrease expenses.
o
Participates in events sponsored by community and
educational organizations.
o
Works closely with all Board Committees in carrying
out their specific functions so the goals of the Board can be achieved.
Oversees material preparation for Board and Committee meetings.
o
All other responsibilities as assigned by the
executive director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:
o
Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent with at least two years’ experience and strong performance in
electronic or print media with news and/PR publicity emphasis or experience
in a related area (i.e., sales, radio/TV community affairs, account
executive, or PR/advertising agency, project coordinator). Excellent
interpersonal and public speaking skills. Proven written and oral
communication and organizational/planning skills. Computer literate including
spreadsheet software.

Desired:
o Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Journalism,
Communication, or English, or certificate of advanced study in one of these
areas. Audio/visual production experience
