Company Program Abuja 2015


The Company of the Year competition takes place annually for participating secondary schools.
 
The Program teaches students in SS1 & 2 how to set up and run a company of their own in their respective schools. It is founded on the 3 pillars of JA Programs- workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The activities includes selling shares, conducting elections for key officers who will handle the affairs of the company like marketing, production, HR, Finances and the CEO. At liquidation, all proceeds from sales of products or rendering services is channeled towards Corporate Social Responsibility and dividends for shareholders.

This years 2015 Competition theme is, "Best Product of the year".
 
Sponsors of this years Company Program were Citi Foundation, Abraaj and First Bank Nigeria Limited. For the Abuja edition, 25 schools were in attendance, 152 students,  33 Teachers & 15 guests from public sector and private sector.
 
The Best 3 Products was selected to represent the Northern Region of FCT.

3rd Place: Noble Heights College: Fancy bags and sit- out mats made out of waste materials found in tailoring shops.

2nd Place winners: Community Secondary School, Asokoro: Stick mops and curtains made out of straws, pencil cases out of plastic bottles.
 
First place: Loyola Jesuit College, Gidan Mangoro: They rendered a series of services like holding a JA Carnival, Valentine Bake Sales, hosting Annual Club Exhibition etc.
 
These 3 will proceed to Stage 2 of the competition in October 2015 where they  will compete with 4 other regions; Jos, Plateau Northern Region,Enugu South-East, Lagos State South-West and Port-Harcourt South-South. The winner of the 2nd Stage will represent JA Nigeria in Gabon, where they will compete amongst 18 African Countries for the title of JA Africa Company of the Year 2015, December 2015 . 

Other award: CSR: Community Secondary School, Asokoro who donated waste bins and presented gifts to Abuja Children's Home.
