GETTING YOUR
MESSAGE ACROSS.
At the LEAD Camp, part of the skills the girls are trained on
is being able to get their message across through effective communication and how to effectively use the mass media. They have the privilege of being mentored by
leading media practitioners in traditional and digital media space, who help
the girls through the process of creating a media message on topical issues in
the society.

Girl Child Faces in Nigeria
The girls spoke on different problems facing the girl child
in Nigeria. The subtopics were; Age Of Consent, Educating The Girl Child,
Sexual Assault, Sex Trafficking, Lack Of Sanitary Pads.

The video was made to correct the negative perception about
females while laying emphasis on the fact that so much potential lie in females
and they can’t be stopped. They had the following terms; I am powerful, I am
human, I am beautiful, I am courageous, and I am confident.

More!
The YOLO. Be More (You only live once) PSA by this group
emphasizes the need for young people in the society to “live more, vibe more
and be more” as one can only be young once and more importantly you only live
once. According to this PSA, it is therefore, important for young people not to
be too hard on themselves in spite of circumstances surrounding them. They must
shine bright, stand up for their rights, and dream big.

Stereotyping
This PSA was mainly about correcting the notion that women
are not fit to attain high leadership positions in society. In the PSA, the
girls stated that women can be more, they can do more and that they are enough.

This PSA bothered around facts and figures of the girl child
education in Nigeria and the need to do more. The members of this media group
highlighted the dangers in having uneducated females in the society and
demanded change.

This team through drama, created an inspirational video with
a message to raise awareness of the rality of gender inequality in our society
and the possibility of gender equality.

Equality Deepens Participation Development
This PSA takes a scientific turn, stating the capacity of the
human brain, male or female. It encourages the participation of women in
development decision making processes which they strongly believe can set the nation up for sustainable
development.
