What a Thrilling and Amazing Success Story!

Joseph Emmanuel Yaba
A Success Story of Junior Achievement Nigeria

Like most achievers, Joseph Emmanuel Yaba was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth but seems to have gone a full circle of life by participating in the Junior Achievement Nigeria Student Company Program. His story is a proof that young people can overcome difficulty to succeed and help others get there and his best lessons were learnt when he was growing up.

He’s first encounter with Junior Achievement Nigeria was at Government Science and Technical College, Area 3 Garki-Abuja in the year 2000 making him one of the Pioneer Students of Junior Achievement Nigeria and today, Joseph’s success stories will not be complete without the mentioning of Junior Achievement Nigeria.

As part of giving back to the community, a lesson he learned while participating in the JA company program where one among many requirements is to give back to the community your business is benefitting immensely from through the friendly business atmosphere the community have created to aid your business, he founded Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) a registered youth organization based in Abuja-Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory with an aim to inspire and educate the life of young people by building their capacity, leadership and responsibility skills and whose mission is to advocate for policies and programs that have the potentials to impact positively on the lives of young people especially in the areas of Health, Education, Environment and Business Development.

As a member of the World Bank Youth Forum (Nigeria) and alumnus of Discovering Young Leaders Program (DYLP) a program of the Commonwealth Youth Program, African Centre-Lusaka, Zambia. It is not farfetched that the JA Company program on leadership development has greatly inspired him and set the path for this attainment.

Joseph believes in a new Nigeria and Africa where young men and women would have equal opportunity to develop themselves for the benefit of national development. A believe he envisage while participating in the JA company program where the need to think of what one can do for Nigeria and not just what Nigeria can do for one was highly stressed.

In 2013, he was a Youth Delegate to the Inter-generational Dialogue between Selected Heads of State in Africa as part of the 50th Anniversary of African Unity where he participated actively in making decisions that affects the life of young people in Nigeria and Africa at large. He also represented Nigeria at the opening ceremony of the African Youth Forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where young people from over 35 African Countries attended the forum. It is of great interest to state here that Mr. Emmanuel Yaba Joseph was one among many JA Company Program participants who benefited immensely from the vivid decision making platform of brainstorming together as a team to think of how to create a company, assigning key positions to befitting persons to occupy, think of what to produce and how to produce it, market it, make profits and see to the daily running of the company.

Currently, Joseph Emmanuel Yaba works with Junior Achievement Nigeria as a Program Officer in the Northern Region Office of Junior Achievement Nigeria brought about by having volunteered for JA where he received adequate training on entrepreneurship education and excelled in teaching same and carrying out assigned task during the volunteering period. He is in charge of delivering Junior Achievement Nigeria program in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano. He also monitors and evaluates programs and train teacher advisers for JA Nigeria Programs. He also conducts student’s orientation and keeps database of all participating schools and students in the Northern Region.
