Global Money Week/Financial Literacy Day 2015
This year’s Financial Literacy Day was a great success. JAN in partnership with the bankers committee celebrated GMW in 24
schools across the country reaching 3948 students with the JAN module “Growing
Your Money” in line with the 2015 GMW Theme: “Save Today, Safe Tomorrow”. Our
Lagos office was able to secure Radio coverage on four national stations; TV
coverage on TVC News and national print coverage.
Several banks also included a presentation on
the products that they offer to young students that could help them take
advantage of “Growing your money”. The program concluded with Q&A and
commentaries from students and teachers. All Banks distributed souvenirs and provided
refreshments to all the students:
Junior Achievement
Nigeria’s Role in coordinating Financial Literacy Day across Nigeria
•
Secondary schools (both public and private) were
selected by JAN across the states. The process involved JAN communicating the
principals to get their consent. This
was followed up by letters from JAN’s office in Lagos addressed to the school
principals. After getting the consent of the schools, the assigned institutions
were informed via Bankers Committee.
•
JAN worked with each financial institution by
supporting any needs they had regarding planning the financial literacy day
agenda
•
JAN ensured the schools selected had a conducive
hall/classroom to accommodate the students for the program.
•
JAN ensured at least one financial institution
was assigned to each of the 21 cities with Abuja and Lagos having more than one
financial institutions
